Accreditation is by analyte. This page is a directory, not a substitute for those live files. Open Maine CDC Laboratory Accreditation. Use In-State Maine Accredited Commercial Laboratories (PDF) for labs that publish a Maine phone, and All Accredited Laboratories (Excel) for the full method-and-analyte list. Labs are accredited by the tests they offer. Confirm coliform, nitrate, and any metal or radionuclide you need. Then call about bottles, hold times, and whether a mailed bacteria sample can arrive inside the hold time. The Drinking Water Program accreditation officer is 207-287-2070.

Maine CDC tells private-well owners to test every year for coliform, E. coli, nitrate, and nitrite, and every 3–5 years for arsenic, chloride, copper, fluoride, hardness, iron, lead, magnesium, manganese, pH, radon, sodium, and uranium.
